Smith served as a city hall reporter at the Calgary Herald and freelanced for Maclean’s Magazine.
She was a reporter and editor at The Canadian Press and was a reporter and digital editor at The Globe and Mail.
Smith has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta and a master’s degree from Toronto Metropolitan University.
