Sly to cover global affairs for the Washington Post

Liz Sly

The Washington Post has tapped Liz Sly as a correspondent-at-large covering global affairs, based in London.

Sly began her career as a stringer in Beirut in the early 1980s. She has held successive postings in Chicago, Washington D.C., Johannesburg, Beijing, Kabul, Delhi, Rome, and Beirut and Baghdad, all for the Chicago Tribune.

She then moved to the Los Angeles Times as Baghdad correspondent, after which she joined The Post as Baghdad bureau chief in 2010.

Among her various awards, Sly won The Post’s inaugural Ben Bradlee Award for Courage in Journalism in 2017.

Sly is a graduate of Cambridge University.
