USA Today has hired Zach Schermele as a national breaking news reporter. He wrote on X/Twitter:
“I’ll be chasing the biggest stories of the day, doing some enterprise reporting & covering what’s trending in K-12/higher education. Can’t wait to compete for a paper I grew up reading!”
Schermele interned at Politico New York, The Chronicle of Higher Education, NBC News and MSNBC. He was also a multimedia journalist at The E.W. Scripps Company and freelanced for Teen Vogue.
Schermele has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University.
