Schaefer named executive editor at Detroit Free Press

Jim Schaefer

The Detroit Free Press has promoted Jim Schaefer to executive editor. Recently, he was senior news director for autos, business and education. Before that, he has worked as an investigations editor and investigative reporter.

He has previously worked at the Free Press from 1998 to 1995 as a copy editor and staff writer. He also had a short stint as a staff writer at The Toledo Blade and was an investigative producer at WXYZ-TV, an ABC-affiliate in Detroit, Michigan.

Schaefer has a B.A. in journalism from The Ohio State University.
