The Los Angeles Times has promoted Ruthanne Salido to director of the multiplatform desk. As per the Times:

“This is a vital role, overseeing a department that provides the final word on not only stories but captions, scripts, headlines, social media content and so much more.

“Moreover, this leader is charged with upholding The Times’ journalistic standards — both on specific questions that come up every day and on codifying the rules for our stylebook and standards and practices documents. Salido is a natural for this role, in which she has served on an interim basis since February.”

Recently, Salido held the post of digital morning copy desk manager. She has been with the Times for more than 34 years, working on the Orange County copy desk, editing on most desks including business and national, and serving as Daily Calendar copy chief.

She has also worked as a copy editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Orange County Register, the Washington Post, Stars and Stripes, and Pasadena Star-News, a local newspaper in California.

Salido belongs to the California Chicano News Media Association and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Salido has a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles and a master’s degree in communications from California State University, Fullerton.
