The Washington Post has hired Andrea Salcedo as a staff writer on Morning Mix.
Her new role begins Oct. 26.
Most recently, Salcedo was reporting and writing freelance articles for Gothamist, New York Public Radio’s digital news platform. She has also worked as a metro desk reporting fellow at the New York Times where she was a general assignment reporter covering breaking news and features.
She has also covered the pandemic at the company as a member of the health-care team.
She was also a ProPublica emerging reporter and was selected as one of five young journalists from a pool of 275 applicants for this one academic year fellowship.
She has also interned at CNN and the Chicago Sun-Times, and was a campus reporter and then campus editor at the Columbia Chronicle.
Salcedo was also a reporting fellow at City Bureau and has interned at Better Government Association and TVN Media.
Salcedo holds a Master’s degree in investigative journalism from Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
