Randy Mitchell has been named the new publisher and digital sales director for the Aiken Standard.
Mitchell, 61, starts his new role today and brings a wealth of newspaper experience after serving in similar positions around the United States.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Mitchell said. “I think it’s going to be a great fit for me and a great fit for the paper.”
Mitchell was born and raised in New England, and he began his newspaper career in Clinton, Mass., as circulation director before being promoted to operations manager.He has worked for many different media companies during his career, including Pulitzer, Paxton Media Group, Lee Enterprises, Gatehouse Media and Adams Publishing Group.
Most recently, he served as publisher and digital marketing director for The Crescent-News in Defiance, Ohio.
Mitchell said he was looking forward to working with the new company.
“One of the things I admire is the forward-thinking of the company, and the desire to really grow,” he said. “They believe in journalism, and that’s great to see. It seems like a great market, and I’m looking forward to working with the team.”
