Rhodes joins Chicago Reader as social justice reporting fellow

Adam M. Rhodes

Chicago Reader has hired Adam M. Rhodes as the paper’s first-ever social justice reporting fellow. The appointment comes thanks to a generous grant from the Field Foundation.

Rhodes said:

“There almost aren’t words to say just how honored and how excited I am to be joining the Chicago Reader team. At a time when crucial local journalism is so needed, especially journalism that holds those in power to account, I am so blessed to be able to continue this important work under the leadership of Karen Hawkins, Sujay Kumar, and a personal hero of mine, Tracy Baim, as well as alongside stellar writers and editors. It’s just a dream.”

Previously, Rhodes worked for Medill Reports and is also a graduate fellow of Medill Investigative Lab.

Rhodes has also worked at Law360 for more than 4 years, joining as a news assistant. Later on, he became a news apprentice before being promoted to the post of reporter.

He has also worked at Seminole Voice as a freelance sports writer and was a blogger at HypeOrlando. He has also worked as a freelance writer for Insight Magazine. Rhodes also spent more than two years at Central Florida Future, starting as opinions editor. Later on, he held the posts of variety editor and then entertainment editor.

He was also managing editor at Centric magazine.

Rhodes holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Central Florida and a Master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
