Independently-owned political news site Raw Story has named Dave Levinthal its editor in chief and Adam Nichols its executive editor.
Recently, Levinthal was deputy editor at Insider, where he previously worked as a senior Washington correspondent. Before that, he was a federal politics editor, senior reporter and then served as editor at large at the Center for Public Integrity.
He covered lobbying, campaign finance and other political influence issues for Politico and co-authored the daily Politico Influence column. He oversaw OpenSecrets’ original journalism and was a government and politics reporter at The Dallas Morning News.
A graduate Syracuse University, Levinthal has won numerous awards, including from Harvard’s Kennedy School and the National Press Club.
In his new role, Adam Nichols will lead Raw Story’s breaking news team. He joined from Patch.com, where he recently served as managing editor. Before that, he was Patch’s New York City metro managing editor.
Nichols worked as a senior editor at DNAinfo, where he was part of the leadership team that launched the website. He was also a senior writer at the New York Post. He also received awards for coverage of crime and breaking news.
Nichols graduated from Strathclyde University.
