Jan Ransom is joining metro’s investigative team focusing on criminal justice and other topics as well.
Currently, Ransom is serving as beat reporter at the company on Manhattan courts and district attorney, including the state and city correction systems.
Also, during the past few months, Ransom has played a vital role covering how the judicial system is weathering the pandemic.
Before joining the Times in 2017, Ransom was a reporter covering the Boston Police Department and criminal justice for The Boston Globe. She has also worked as a journalist at NY Daily News covering politics, crime and housing issues in Upper Manhattan neighborhoods.
She has also worked at Philadelphia Daily News as a crime and general assignment reporter. Later on, she was promoted to the post of City Hall reporter.
Ransom is a graduate of Howard University.
