Sarah Smith, a reporter covering housing, poverty, mental health, and religion for ProPublica has left. Smith’s tweet reads:
“I’ve so enjoyed getting to work with the generous, brilliant reporters here, especially my colleagues on the South team. I am very excited for the next adventure, but first: A small break.”
Previously, Smith was a metro reporter at the Houston Chronicle and an investigative reporter at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She reported for The Associated Press and was an editorial fellow at The Atlantic.
She interned at The Philadelphia Inquirer and Politico.
Smith graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.
