Jennifer Berry Hawes has joined ProPublica as an investigative reporter covering the South.
Recently, Hawes was with The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., where she worked for more than 24 years, recently as a watchdog and public service reporter. She also served as a special projects writer, writing all types of in-depth stories and long-form narratives.
She was also part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize in Public Service in 2015 and a finalist in Feature Writing for 2019.
Previously, she was a staff writer at Gannett-owned daily newspaper The Greenville News.
Hawes graduated from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
