Wendy Fullerton Powell has been appointed executive editor of Gannett’s Naples Daily News. Powell brings more than 30 years of journalistic experience to the newsroom, having spent most of her career working for the Fort Myers News-Press.
Since Gannett acquired the company that owned the Daily News, she has worked for the combined newsroom, recently serving as a senior director of content, working closely with reporters and editors at both news organizations.
At the beginning of her career, she covered Naples and Collier County. Since then, she has held various roles, including working as a business editor, deputy metro editor and assistant managing editor.
“The Naples Daily News has a long tradition of quality journalism, and I look forward to honoring that tradition and better serving our community with purposeful coverage,” Powell said.
