Porter joins Minnesota paper as reporter

Barbie Porter

Longtime local journalist Barbie Porter has joined the Detroit Lakes Tribune and Perham Focus in Minnesota as a full-time reporter.

The Detroit Lakes resident has been writing for newspapers since 2006, after graduating with degrees from Minnesota State University-Moorhead in print journalism and photography.

Porter was editor of the Frazee-Vergas Forum for the past 16 years.

Porter will be covering everything from school boards to crime reports, and feature stories to business profiles. She’ll be writing regularly for both the Tribune and Focus newspapers, as well as contributing to magazines and other special sections published by the papers.
