POLITICO today announced plans to launch its flagship product, Playbook, in Berlin early in 2024, in German. Gordon Repinski will lead POLITICO’s Berlin Playbook team, Cecil von Busse will serve as General Manager of POLITICO in Germany.
“As the largest economy in Europe and a political heavyweight in the EU, Germany is a natural fit for POLITICO and Berlin Playbook is the perfect way to introduce German readers to POLITICO’s unique and indispensable value,” said Goli Sheikholeslami, CEO of POLITICO Media Group.
Gordon Repinski
Repinski will assume the role of Executive Editor Germany. He joins from The Pioneer, where he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief responsible for the newsletter and podcast “Hauptstadt – DAS Briefing”. Prior to that, Repinski worked as deputy chief editor and head of the politics department at the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland and was a correspondent for Der Spiegel in Berlin and Washington D.C. He will report to Jamil Anderlini, Editor-in-Chief of POLITICO in Europe.
Cecil von Busse
Cecil von Busse will oversee the initial growth phase and all subsequent steps in building out POLITICO in Germany. He comes from INSIDER, where he held the position of Head of Markets Insider in New York, and will report to Nicolas Sennegon, Managing Director of POLITICO in Europe.
