Erin Banco has joined Politico as a health care reporter focusing on the pandemic response and the CDC.
Previously, Banco was a national security reporter at The Daily Beast. There, she also reported on the pandemic and the government’s response to the pandemic bur was also national security reporter, covering the intelligence community and foreign policy. Before that, she was an investigative reporter for the Star-Ledger.
Banco has also served as a Middle East correspondent for the International Business Times (now Newsweek Media Group) and has worked freelance for more than 5 years. She was a David Rosenbaum fellow at The New York Times where she worked with the national security team.
She is the author of “Pipe Dreams,” a book focusing on the development of the oil and gas industry in the northern Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Banco is a B.A. in Journalism, African literature and language from University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds a Master’s degree in international media and human rights from Columbia University – School of International and Public Affairs.
