Politico is launching “The Recast,” a twice-weekly newsletter exploring how race and identity are the DNA of American politics and policy and has hired Brakkton Booker as a national political correspondent and author.
Booker is currently a national desk reporter at NPR and has been with the company for more than 17 years, joining as an editorial assistant. He then held numerous roles, including assistant editor, associate editor, blogger/reporter, and political producer and reporter.
He has also worked as a general assignment reporter at WAMU 88.5 and was a desk assistant at CBS Corp.
Booker holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Howard University.
