Fely Garcia Amador has started a new job at PBS Austin as VP of Community Engagement.
In her new role, she’ll serve as a bridge between the community and PBS Austin, “advocating for self-sufficiency and ensuring that individuals know where to turn for assistance in various areas of life,” says Austin PBS President and CEO Luis Patiño, himself a former Univision executive, who joined the station in March 2022.
Garcia Amador arrives to the public broadcaster from Univision Austin, where she spent more than 20 years in various sales and community relations roles. When she exited the local station in late September, she had been community empowerment manager for almost 17 years.
Prior to landing her current position, the Brownsville native had been involved with PBS Austin as a member of the community advisory board.
