Patel moves to NY Times education desk

Vimal Patel

Vimal Patel will join the Education desk at The New York Times, focused on free speech issues. Recently, Patel was a night breaking news reporter on the Express desk.

Patel started as a reporter at The Bryan-College Station Eagle, a small daily in Texas, where he covered Texas A&M University.

He worked at the Chronicle of Higher Education for more than seven years, where he reported on graduate education, student success and campus culture.

Patel graduated from Colorado State University.
