Les O’Dell has joined The Southern Illinoisan as a full-time staff reporter covering higher education, along with timely features on business, faith and other topics.

O’Dell has freelanced for the paper for more than a decade and is the author of the paper’s wildly popular weekly Business Spotlight. He has also regularly contributed to its quarterly Life&Style magazine and a wide range of special publications.

He has also freelanced for Southern Business Journal, Illinois Country Living Magazine, Galesburg Register-Mail, Southern Illinois Health & Wellness Magazine, as well as numerous other print, web and corporate clients.

O’Dell is a B.S. in journalism from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
