NY Times welcomes three to its editing residency

The following was sent out from The New York Times’ Ted Kim, Carla Correa and Alexa Mills:

We are pleased to announce that Lars Dolder, Anna Venarchik and Reece Taylor Williams will join the Editing Residency this month. The Editing Residency is an immersive learning program that provides two years of training and support with the goal of nurturing the next generation of editors. Reece will be our first photo-editing resident.

Times residents edit work from across our newsroom, including daily and enterprise news articles, visuals and special projects. They begin their residency on the Flexible Editing desk, honing their skills under the tutelage of Lillie Dremeaux, an assistant editor with a deep understanding of Times journalism. Alexa, a senior editor on the Career Programs team, leads the program.

Lars Dolder

Lars is a reporter and editor who covered politics, business and technology at The News & Observer and The Chatham News + Record, both in North Carolina. He is a classical guitarist and earned a math degree in college.

Anna Venarchik

Anna was most recently an assistant editor at Oxford American magazine. She has interned at Harper’s magazine and New York Public Radio. Before working in journalism, she taught high school literature in Chicago. She is from Alabama and loves to ride her bike.

Reece Taylor Williams

Reece comes to The Times from Gothamist, where he was a photo editor. He enjoys darkroom printing, making photographs throughout the city, listening to many genres of music and road tripping. He will spend a majority of his residency on the Photo desk.

Reece, Lars and Anna will join the Editing Residency on Oct. 16. Please join us in welcoming them to the program.
