NY Times taps Reiss to serve in new role for targeted email

The New York Times has appointed Jaclyn Reiss as the first assistant editor for targeted email.

As per the Times:

“The goal of targeted email is to send relevant Times journalism to subsets of our audience, delivering value to readers and bringing them back to the site. Since starting in this new role in July, Jaclyn has established herself as an indispensable pillar of this growing platform.

“Jaclyn is leading the charge on writing, editing and operations, demonstrating an eagle eye for new opportunities.”

Reiss joined the newsroom in October 2020 as an assistant editor on the Home team. Before that, she worked for more than nine years at the Boston Globe.

There, she held posts that included metro desk reporter/messenger; community reporter, content producer; senior digital news editor – homepage/breaking news; Sunday night metro editor.

Reiss has a B.S. in journalism and history from Boston University, where she was a staff columnist for the university’s internet magazine The Quad.
