NY Times taps Goodnough as domestic policy and healthcare editor in Washington

The New York Times has appointed Abby Goodnough as a domestic policy and health care editor in Washington.

Goodnough has been with the Times since the mid-1990s, when she replaced Cliff Levy as a news assistant on the International desk. She has also worked night shifts on the Metro desk.

Prior to covering health, Goodnough spent five years as New England bureau chief and four years as Miami bureau chief. She has also covered New Jersey, City Hall and the New York City school system.

She has also written a book called, “Ms. Moffett’s First Year: Becoming a Teacher in America,” a book based on an award-winning series she wrote for The Times.

Goodnough is a graduate of Cornell University.
