Michael Crowley has joined The New York Times state department team and will be working on the diplomatic beat with Lara Jakes, who has been expertly covering the department for the past year and a half.
Crowley joined The Times in 2019 as a White House correspondent. Before that, he was a White House and national security editor, and the senior foreign affairs correspondent at Politico. Crowley has also served as chief foreign affairs correspondent at Time Magazine.
He was also with The New Republic for more than 9 years holding the post of senior editor.
Early in his career, he has also covered state, local and national politics for The Boston Phoenix and then The Boston Globe.
Crowley holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University.
