The New York Times has promoted Tracy Ma to the post of assistant editor on the Styles team. Previously, she held the post of visual editor.
Ma is also an adjunct professor at Parsons School of Design – The New School. She has also worked at Google Creative Labs and was a creative director at Matter Studios.
She was also with Bloomberg Businessweek for more than 4 years, joining as a designer and then serving as assistant creative director, before holding the post of deputy creative director. She has also worked as a designer at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Toronto Life Magazine and Leo Burnett Toronto.
Ma is a graduate of York University.
The New York Times has also promoted Sandra Evangelina Garcia to the post of reporter on the Styles team. Garcia joins from the Express desk. Garcia has been with The Times for more than 7 years, joining as a reporter and then holding the post of news assistant.
She has also worked as a freelance reporter at The Times and was an editorial intern at InStyle Magazine at Time Inc. She was also a news aggregator at Black Enterprise and has also interned at VIBE Media | Access Network.
She was also a reporter at The Manhattan Times, after interning at Fox News Latino and El Diario La Prensa.
Garcia is a B.S. in multimedia journalism from City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College and holds a Master’s degree in magazine concentration from Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
