The New York Times has promoted Jon Galinsky to the post of associate managing editor.
The new role emphasizes the central role Galinsky and his team have played in the trajectory and growth of the newsroom. Galinsky will continue to oversee Strategy and the embedded Finance team as newsroom strategy director.
He will now also be managing the newsroom’s budget, ensuring Times’ journalism remains well funded and resources are pointed toward the areas of greatest journalistic and strategic importance.
He will also help in shaping near- and long-term strategy for coverage and operations and will also be working with desk heads and other newsroom leaders on opportunities and developing the plans to address them.
Galinsky has been with the Times for more than 10 years. He has held numerous roles, including analyst – advertising planning and digital strategy, associate manager – ad product planning and digital strategy, associate manager – strategy, manager – strategy and editor – newsroom strategy.
Galinsky is a graduate of Williams College.
