The New York Times has tapped Mona Boshnaq to take on the post of senior photo editor.
An excerpt from the Times reads:
“In this new role, Mona will build on her exemplary work as photo editor and will take on expanded responsibilities for the International desk’s visual report. Working with Gaia, Josh Keller and the visual staff on International, Mona will help International further develop its approach and focus on visually led formats. She will generate regular and ambitious visual enterprise aligned with the desk’s coverage lines and editorial goals. She will help build on the desk’s visual approach to live vehicles, for both planned events and breaking news. And she will collaborate closely with colleagues on the desk and across visual teams to elevate the role of visuals in the international report. Mona will tap into her extensive experience and develop her own leadership skills to mentor and guide Adam Dean and Sarah Eckinger, her photo editor colleagues in the London bureau.”
Prior to joining the Times in February 2015 as a photo editor, Boshnaq held the same post at Agence France-Presse, where she covered the Middle East, U.K., Ireland and North Africa.
