NY Times names Willis Washington night editor

Nathan Willis

The New York Times has tapped Nathan Willis as its Washington bureau new night editor. Previously, he held the post of Sunday editor in Washington.

His new role starts Jun. 7.

Willis joined The Times in 2015 as a staff editor. He then became a senior staff editor and deputy weekend editor, Washington bureau. Before that, he was a premium services editor at The Motley Fool.

He was also with The Washington Post for 8 years, joining as a metro copy editor and slot. He then served as a deputy metro copy chief for the extras and was then made interim deputy editor, Local Living. He then served as a multiplatform editor.

Willis has also served as a copy editor at The Dallas Morning News and was a copy-editing intern at The Washington Post. He was also editor-in-chief of University Daily Kansan, a student newspaper at the University of Kansas.

Willis is a B.S. in journalism from the University of Kansas.
