The following was sent out from The New York Times senior audio editor for Opinion Kaari Pitkin:
I’m excited to let you all know that Jillian Weinberger is joining Opinion Audio as a senior producer on the “First Person” podcast.
Jillian has spent most of her career in audio storytelling and live radio, at WNYC, “Reveal,” and, most recently, at Vox, where she was a deputy editorial director. At Vox, she worked on a range of documentary-style episodes and series for “The Impact,” “Today,” “Explained” and “Unexplainable,” including collaborations with “Planet Money” and ProPublica. Her work has been recognized by the National Edward R. Murrow Awards, the Gracies, the New York Festivals, and the National Association for Black Journalists. Jillian’s reporting and producing have taken her all over the world and back in time, from solar and wind farms in Germany and family playgroups in Denmark to the Reagan-era AIDS crisis and the U.S.-Mexico border.
