NY Times names Peltier West Africa correspondent

Elian Peltier

The New York Times has appointed Elian Peltier as West Africa correspondent, based in Dakar, Senegal.

In his new role, he will be working with bureau chief Ruth MacLean.

Peltier joined the Times as an intern in the Paris bureau in 2015. In 2017, he became a full-time reporter/researcher. In addition to covering breaking news, he tapped a new area of coverage – racism and social issues in sports.

In 2019, he joined the London newsroom as a breaking news reporter. He has also spent time running the coronavirus briefing from London, and has covered the European Union from Brussels.

Additionally, he has also interned at Vice and Al Jazeera.

Peltier studied at the Missouri School of Journalism and has a dual master’s degree in journalism and international security from Sciences Po Paris.
