I’m very excited to share that Claire Gordon will be joining The Times as the supervising editor of “The Ezra Klein Show.” Claire will be stepping into the role of show running, editing and managing the team. She brings years of experience generating and sharpening ideas, producing award-winning journalism and leading exceptional teams. She will help shepherd “The Ezra Klein Show” through a unique election cycle, finding ways to uphold and expand its editorial approach. She will help determine coverage areas and develop and execute concrete editorial plans to turn those topics into thoughtful, delightful and surprising episodes.

Claire was the showrunner and the executive producer of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated “Explained,” produced by Vox Media. It was Netflix’s longest-running current affairs show, running for three seasons and five spin-off miniseries, with episodes that attempted to explain everything from the recent boom in billionaires to the eternal power of fairy tales. When the pandemic hit, Claire pivoted the team to an entirely remote production, and released the episode “This Pandemic, Explained” in April 2020, which became one of the most-watched programs on Netflix around the world.

Before that, Claire was a senior producer for two Emmy Award-winning seasons of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” for which she won a Peabody Award. The segment she produced on the antiabortion movement’s legislative strategy was also recognized by the Television Academy Honors. Earlier in her career, Claire worked at Al Jazeera America in Washington, where she was one of the first reporters covering the campus anti-rape movement, winning the first Breaking the Silence journalism award from the nonprofit SurvJustice.

Claire is a graduate of Yale University and grew up in London.

Welcome, Claire.
