NY Times’ Levy named deputy publisher of Wirecutter, The Athletic

Cliff Levy

After 32 years in The New York Times newsroom, Cliff Levy will move to its business side as deputy publisher of Wirecutter and The Athletic. Levy will take up his new role early next year.

A two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Levy’s initial focus will be Wirecutter, where he will support the editorial team and work with the senior leadership to develop strategies that expand reach and revenue.

At The Athletic, Levy will advise and support the leadership team among other tasks.

Recently, Levy served as deputy managing editor, overseeing the Standards operation and overall efforts to safeguard journalistic integrity. Before that, he served as Metro editor and deputy managing editor of the Times’ digital platforms.

He also held the posts of deputy Metro editor, Moscow bureau chief, investigative reporter and political correspondent.

Levy graduated from Princeton University.
