The New York Times has hit the milestone of reaching 10 million subscribers ahead of schedule, aided by its acquisition of the sports news website The Athletic.
Prior to acquiring The Athletic, The Times added 375,000 digital subscriptions in the last three months of 2021 and by the last week of December, the company had 8.8 million subscriptions, with nearly 5.9 million being for digital news.
The New York Times now aims to achieve at least 15 million subscribers by the end of 2027.
