Sara Ziegler will join The New York Times Sports desk as deputy editor for strategy and operations.
Currently, she serves as a sports editor at FiveThirtyEight, where she was formerly an assistant sports editor and general editor. She was also an editor at Law360.
Before that, she was a 16-year veteran of The Omaha World-Herald. She was president of ACES: The Society for Editing for four years, and was an adjunct professor at Creighton University.
Ziegler has a B.A. in journalism and political science from Iowa State University.
