Yara Bayoumy is joining The New York Times as world and national security editor for Opinion.
Bayoumy joins from NPR where she was deputy international editor. Prior to that, she was a national security editor at The Atlantic. She has also served as deputy editor, U.S. national security and foreign policy, at Reuters.
Bayoumy was also a security correspondent at Reuters. She has also served as a correspondent, acting bureau chief/acting deputy bureau chief, and as a senior correspondent at the company.
Bayoumy is a B.A. in political science from the American University in Cairo.
