The following excerpt was sent out from The New York Times‘ Emily Weinstein, Emily Fleischaker and Scott Loitsch:
We’re thrilled to announce two new hires on the New York Times Cooking video team.
Shanice Bland will join us as video operations manager. In this new role, Shanice will manage workflow across all New York Times Cooking video production, creating new processes and streamlining those that already exist. Her work will facilitate the growth of on- and off-platform video, from hands-and-pans recipe videos to docu-style storytelling around cooking. Shanice will build on the accomplishments of Gina Fernandez, who has heroically supported our production arm these last four years.
Shanice has nearly 10 years of experience producing and coordinating video productions, managing teams and overseeing large-scale video projects. Most recently, Shanice was a producer with Thematic Campaigns, where she managed shoots across the country for more than 50 clients. Previously, Shanice worked as a production coordinator in politics and for BuzzFeed News. Shanice says she’s both a dessert person and a cat person (she has two tuxedo cats at home).
In another new role, Isabel Montes joins us as recipe video editor. Isabel will support our ambitious plans to add more video and instructive visuals to New York Times Cooking. Isabel will edit the service-driven, hands-and-pans cooking videos coming out of Vaughn Vreeland’s team, and will help create step-by-step images for recipes.
Isabel joins us from Food52, where she was a cooking video editor, establishing editing styles for series on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram in the process.
Please join us in welcoming Shanice and Isabel! We’re so looking forward to having them on the team.
