Swanson has been with the Times for more than 7 years and has also served as a staff editor. She was also an editor/designer at Chicago Tribune Media Group and was a copy editor at Daily Herald, Daily Southtown and Moline Dispatch Publishing Co.
She was also a managing editor at Northern Star.
Swanson is a B.A. in English from Northern Illinois University.
