The New York Times Home team has named Thomas Lotito and Laura Montenegro assistant editors.
Lotito joined the Times in February 2015 as an editorial assistant. Since then, he has served as a news assistant, senior news assistant, staff editor and senior staff editor.
He also interned at the Times from June 2014 to August 2014 via the Dow Jones News Fund. He also interned at Condé Nast.
Lotito has a bachelor’s degree from Marist College in New York and a master’s degree from Stony Brook University.

Montenegro joined the Times in December 2020 as a Home page editor. She then took on the role of senior staff editor.
Prior to joining the Times, Montenegro held the posts of news curation editor and news curation lead editor at BuzzFeed. She freelanced and then worked as a digital news producer at ABC 7. She interned at the Los Angeles Times.
Montenegro has a B.A. in journalism from California State University-Long Beach.
