Randal Archibold, a sports editor at The New York Times, has taken over the role of senior editor for news. He has been with the Times for 25 years.
Archibold joined in January 1998 as a staff writer on Metro. Since then, he has held the posts of national correspondent in the L.A. bureau, Mexico City bureau chief and deputy sports editor.
Prior to the Times, he was a staff writer and editor at the Los Angeles Times. He also wrote for the Los Angeles Daily News, The San Diego Union-Tribune and The News Tribune.
Archibold graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
