NY Times announces new roles for Abi-Habib and Kitroeff in Mexico City

The New York Times has appointed Maria Abi-Habib investigative correspondent and Natalie Kitroeff Mexico City bureau chief.

Abi-Habib will focus on Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. Recently, Abi-Habib served as Mexico City bureau chief and before that as a roaming South Asia correspondent. She was at The Wall Street Journal for more than seven years, where she held the posts of Afghanistan and Middle East correspondent. She reported on the Gulf stock markets and economy for the Journal/Dow Jones Newswires. Abi-Habib graduated from Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science.

Natalie Kitroeff

Previously, Kitroeff was a foreign correspondent based in Mexico City. In her new role, Kitroeff will drive the news coverage in the region. Before that, she reported on the economy and heavy industry, and also reported for the Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg Businessweek. Kitroeff has a B.A. from Princeton University.
