The following is an excerpt announcement sent out by The New York Times:
We’ll start with Erica Futterman, who joined the Audio team as the deputy director of audience and operations. Erica joins us from the Newsroom Strategy team, where she focused on the intersection of operations, culture and communications. Among her many accomplishments: She helped rethink the org structures for our Live and breaking news coverage, worked on the evolution of our email and events strategies, produced the newsroom’s All-Hands, was on the team that rebooted companywide onboarding and the one that crafted the company’s new mission and values statement.
Shreeya Sinha joined us as the associate director of operations, and she will help lead the charge on a new stream of audio product work. When she told us how she embedded with the Product team for several months to launch For You in the core app, and how her work on audience development meaningfully changed how the National desk operates, we were beyond intrigued.
Laura Kim joined the Audio team earlier this year and has been spearheading work with Audm, turning out audio versions of our written journalism. We’re excited to say she will now be overseeing the team’s digital audience development efforts.
Lauren Jackson is promoted to associate audience editor for fundamentally changing the way we think about what “The Daily’s” digital experience can be.
When Sindhu Gnanasambandan arrived at The Times, she pretty quickly jumped into working on the narrative series “Rabbit Hole.” In a project that required the use of a significant amount of source material from the internet, Sindhu spent hours watching some genuinely unsavory internet videos, and she demonstrated a gift for finding tape. We’re very excited about her promotion to producer on the narrative team, and for all the great things she’ll do next.
“The Daily” Promotions announced by The New York Times include (excerpt):
Lisa Chow is promoted to supervising editor. She plays a key role in setting the editorial agenda and direction of the show each day, in addition to editing many of its most memorable episodes.
Paige Cowett is also promoted to supervising editor, as she has been skillfully leading our politics coverage.
In the last few months, as one of the biggest stories of our lifetimes was upon us, Alex Young helped shape the coverage of the pandemic on “The Daily” and drove the conception and production of several powerful episodes, perhaps most notably the small-business episode that captured the essence of New York as the lockdown was starting. We’re thrilled to recognize all of her work and contributions with this promotion to senior news producer.
If there’s a character you can’t forget having heard on “The Daily,” there’s a good chance Jessica Cheung found them. Jess is known on the team for her amazing gift for identifying voices that demand to be heard, and then somehow convincing them to talk to The Times. She’s always pushing for the best version of the story, and she’s been recognized with a promotion to Producer II.
The New York Times announces three hires to the shows team (excerpt):
Bianca Giaever is now a full-time producer after joining the team last fall. Bianca is a creative force who has made some iconic videos you may be familiar with.
Sara Sarahson is back! Sara’s been editing “Still Processing” for the past few seasons from her home in Berkeley, Calif. Sara is a beloved editor with decades of experience editing for NPR and was the managing director of NPR One. Sara’s edited shows at Vox and Gimlet, including “Reply All,” “The Nod” and “StartUp.” Sara edited our pop-up season of “Sugar Calling” with Cheryl Strayed, and will now bring “Still Processing” back with more regularity. In the “Still Processing” off-season, Sara will be a supporting editor on shows. We are incredibly fortunate to have Sara’s sharp ears and keen focus on the shows team.
Join us in congratulating and welcoming everyone!
