NY times announces changes in Sports

The following was sent out from The New York Times sports editor Randal C. Archibold:

I’m delighted to bring you up to speed on some exciting staff changes.

James Wagner

James Wagner will be moving to Mexico City in the new year as an international sports correspondent based there. James will roam far and wide across Latin America, bringing his eye and ear for distinctive, insightful coverage to a region rich with sports. He will also partner occasionally with the International desk for broader coverage in the region. We’re excited for James and excited to open a new front in our international coverage.

Alan Binder

Alan Blinder will begin moving over to the golf beat — which was previously left vacant by Bill Pennington’s retirement — and the intersection of sports and health. Alan has dived into the beat already, supplementing our coverage of the Masters and British Open with surprising, well-read enterprise and staying on top of the news with LIV Golf. Alan will also develop a sub-beat on the intersection of sports and health, having already launched this with his look at the legacy of CTE in Alabama football players. He will look at the ways research, mental health, injuries and other medical topics resonate in sports.

Please join me in congratulating James and Alan on their new roles.
