Burgess freelanced for The Indiependent and was a news editor at Student Comment and News, Lancaster University Students’ Union newspaper. He gained experience at The Yorkshire Times.
Burgess has a B.A. from Lancaster University and an M.A. from Cardiff University in Wales.
