Amelia Nierenberg

Amelia Nierenberg, who joined The New York Times’ newsletter team as founder and co-writer of the “Coronavirus Schools Briefing,” has been named a writer for the Asia-Pacific Morning Briefing.

An excerpt from the announcement reads:

The Asia-Pacific Morning Briefing reaches an audience of nearly 700,000 people, from Australia to India and beyond, and is growing quickly. Amelia will help our readers in the region start their day with the world’s top news and introduce them to Times reporting.

Amelia also co-wrote the Coronavirus Briefing with Jonathan Wolfe and embedded with the Well desk for several months in late 2021 and early 2022.

She joined The Times in 2019 as the inaugural newsroom fellow on the Food desk. Before joining The Times, she worked as an Overseas Press Club fellow with the Associated Press in Dakar, Senegal, and as an intern with The Boston Globe, where she conducted extensive research for a project on education equity that was a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in local reporting. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in history from Yale and grew up in The Bronx and Yonkers, N.Y.
