Newspaper Subscription Services appoints Haenel as VP and chief client officer

Lon Haenel has been named vice president and chief client officer at Newspaper Subscription Services (NSS) where he will find ways to differentiate the company and create unparalleled value for clients.

“Lon has a solid foundation in the newspaper business,” said Frank Vega, founder and president of Newspaper Subscription Services. “NSS and our clients are lucky that we have Lon onboard,” he said.

Previously, Haenel spent more than 4 years at GateHouse Media, joining as director of consumer marketing, Rockford Register Star and then serving as executive planning director, consumer marketing – Columbus Dispatch.

He was with Local Matters Digital |Bliss Communications Inc. for more than 9 years, joining as a consumer sales and marketing manager and then serving as vice president, digital media and circulation.

He is also the former board president of The Literacy Connection and the owner of Local News ROI, a niche marketing agency to address customer churn epidemic in newspaper publishing industry.

Haenel is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
