NewsNation, the Chicago-based cable news network run by Nexstar Media Group, has tapped Chris Stirewalt as a political editor.
Stirewalt was a contributing editor at The Dispatch for the past year. He has also been a public speaker at Leading Authorities, Inc. for several years. In addition, he was a political editor at Fox News, the Washington Examiner, West Virginia Media and Charleston Daily Mail.
Stirewalt graduated from Hampden-Sydney College.
NewsNation has struggled to maintain its self-proclaimed image of editorial neutrality in the wake of notable miscues. The network made headlines in September 2020, just a few weeks after launching, for Joe Donlon’s interview of then-President Donald Trump. The Chicago Tribune described it as “a 15-minute primetime opportunity for the president to repeat campaign talking points without having to answer on matters of fact or logic.”
