The New York Times has hired Jason Silverstein as weekend social strategy editor on the audience team. He joins from CBS News, where he has worked as social media producer, politics producer for social media and most recently as a social media manager.
He has also taught journalism and media studies at Brooklyn College and was a digital editor at Oxygen Media in New York. He was also a deputy breaking news editor at Newsweek.
Silverstein also served as a breaking news reporter and then as a national politics reporter at the New York Daily News. He has also reported for the Statesman Journal/Gannett.
Silverstein has a B.A. from the University of Rochester and a M.S. from Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
