New York Times makes two new hires on the politics team

Jazmine Ulloa and Alexandra Berzon

The New York Times has tapped Jazmine Ulloa as a roving midterm reporter based in Washington and Alexandra Berzon as an investigative reporter.

Ulloa joins from The Boston Globe, where she was a national political reporter. Before that, she was a state politics and policy reporter at the Los Angeles Times. She has also reported for the Austin American-Statesman and has contributed to publications including Texas Monthly Magazine, The Texas Observer, Texas Co-op Power Magazine and San Antonio Magazine.

She has also reported for the San Antonio Express-News and The Brownsville Herald, which serves the Rio Grande Valley. Ulloa has a B.A. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

Berzon was recently a reporter at ProPublica. Before that, she was a reporter at The Wall Street Journal. She was also a journalist at the Las Vegas Sun and the Red Herring, which provides access to the global innovation economy. She has also interned at San Antonio Express-News and the Anchorage Daily News.

Berzon has a B.A. in urban studies from Vassar College and holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley.
