The following excerpt announcement was sent out from The New York Times:
I’m glad to announce that Somini Sengupta is taking on an exciting new role as the anchor for our Climate Fwd newsletter.
Climate Fwd is one of the most important ways we connect readers with our climate content. Because Climate Fwd is one of The Times’s highly successful newsletter products, we are relaunching next month as a twice-weekly offering, and will soon be moving behind the paywall as an exclusive offering for subscribers.
Each newsletter will begin with a reported column by Somini, followed by a collection of the most important climate news that we have published. It will also highlight work from other news organizations that we curate and want to share.
Some weeks, Somini will take us deeper into the news with razor-sharp analysis. Some weeks, she will press on an idea dominating public conversation. Some weeks, she will do a Q. and A. with another reporter about an important story. She will rely on many people across the newsroom for guidance and ideas.
Somini has been a reporter at The Times for more than 20 years. In addition to helming the newsletter, she will continue to write several enterprise pieces throughout the year.
