Ahead of the job cuts at BuzzFeed News, deputy editor-in-chief Tom Namako is also resigning and joining NBC News Digital as executive editor.
Namako joined BuzzFeed in 2014 as a news assignment editor. He was then promoted to deputy news director. He has also served as head of breaking news and news director. Prior to joining BuzzFeed, he was a news editor at The Wall Street Journal.
Before that, he was at the New York Post, where he worked as a transit reporter and then as an associate metro editor. He has also written for the Philadelphia City Paper and The Press of Atlantic City.
Namako has a B.A. in communication and English from La Salle University and a M.S. in journalism from Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
